With Tamara finally arriving home shortly (yay!) it looks like my stay here will soon be over (nooo!). I just wanted to thank all the readers of the site here and, of course, That Girl herself for letting me fill in for a few days while she was having the time of her life in Japan.
I didn’t get to post very much during this week, because I was a bit under the weather… but I figured I could leave a few updates now.
- The Resident Evil 5 downloadable content “Lost in Nightmares” seems mandatory for any fans of the series. It’s only an hour long and doesn’t have much combat, but the back-story is worth it alone. Oh, and you play as Chris and Jill. That should be enough!
- The Adventures of PB Winterbottom on Xbox Live Arcade is one of the best games out on the service. It’s a puzzle-platformer that’s a bit like Braid, but it definitely holds its own. At least download the demo and give it a shot. It has a ton of style and personality.
- The leaked Sonic 4 footage came out and wasn’t too bad to look at. Hopefully they’ll make his jumping a bit less floaty so it’s more like the originals.
Aside from that there wasn’t too much else this week. Again, I just want to thank Tamara, and all the readers here. It’s not everyday you get to guest-spot on a site that matters. Hopefully ours will matter one day too.
Sunday I took a trip to Super Potato which is a retro game store in the back streets of Akihabara, Japan. Actually, calling it a retro game store is doing a disservice to one of the, if not the coolest gaming spots in the entire world.
You can find almost anything on one of the shops floors, you can take the elevator to the top floor and play a few different old school games on one of their many cabinets. On the lower floors you can find used Famicon systems for reasonable prices, Game & Watches, easy to find and rare games on many different systems. They even carry PCFX, and Vectrex games.
Super Potato also carries video game music soundtracks, odd toys, rare plushies, and their walls are covered in 8-bit art.
Check out some of the pics, and if you are every in Japan be sure to go to Super Potato!
I took a bunch of videos and pictures today, but being that I am just starting to work on uploading them now I figured I’d share a picture of what I was watching at 4am.
While it’s a given that Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines and Terminator Salvation were on the wrong side of the FAIL to WIN ratio, it is a franchise that I still love dearly. Now take that love and leverage my enjoyment of odd ball mash up/remixes and insert a tasteful amount of auto-tune (another guilty pleasure), and you have a video by YouTube user Faggotron that makes my heart pee.
What I found to be most impressive is that he composes his projects using all samples sourced from the films to which he’s paying homage. I also ? passion projects.
All of the updates have centered on zombie related things so far, so why not keep it going?
Nicholas Endean has gone out of his way to make his own Resident Evil Monopoly, with his own printed board and everything. Sometimes people are bigger fans of things than I can ever imagine being possible. With that said, if you are interested in how this project came to be, he’s created a whole 24-page post detailing all the little details of the process. You can find it below.

Hey!
I will be in Japan for the week so I thought it would be fun to have a some guest blogs posted while I was away in case I couldn’t be around to post much.
I meant to post something before I left but ran out of time.
Mike and Shawn will be guest posting for the next few days so let’s all be nice and responsive
Now that everyone has had the chance to read Mike’s post, I wanted to introduce myself as well.
My name is Shawn and I’m the creator and head-writer over at POWRDUP.com. With Mike and I writing, I guess it’s temporarily That Guy’s Site… but wait! don’t run away! We promise things won’t be any different than you are used to, and That Girl will be back before you know it. Until then I guess you’ll just have to put up with us :p.
As for the Pichu picture, it has no relevance. He’s just adorable enough that I like finding excuses to post him.
Hey there, Thatgirls’ians! My name is Mike, and for this next week or so I’ve been bestowed with the great honor of guest posting while the boss and premiere butt kicker is away on vacation. Before I assault your senses with a deluge of random links, words, and imagery, I felt it perhaps prudent to introduce myself lest you fear there’s been some sort of hostile take over or some n00b made with the mad H4XXX in T-Girls absence.
Rest assured I’ll be keeping to the program of video game, movie, lol-tastic, and all things AWESOME related. Feel free to leave any feedback, requests, or criticisms either in the site comments, or shout at me on mah Twitter: @mikeisonthenets. I look forward to talking at ya. ;)
Hi!
I usually post a lot of random things about video games, movies, comics, manga, toys, zombies, and other geeky stuff.
Thanks for coming by and I hope you enjoy your stay!
