The movie blew pretty bad. While watching the movie, I’m looking at loooong scenes they could have chopped out. Honestly, they could have lopped 45 mins off the flick and the story would not have suffered
I loved every minute of Michael Bays second epic masterpiece centered on toy robots… Go see it, you’ll at least enjoy it. It’s not meant to win over the academy– it’s meant to win over normal people (forget technique, this movie rules!).
It kinda baffles my mind when people say the movie could have done without certain scenes. The ENTIRE movie is unnecessary . The whole movie is made as a flick…not a film.A summer blockbuster. Anybody who thought this was going to be anything different than what Michael Bay did in the first Transformers was completely disillusioned.
In technical terms, this movie was far superior to the first. Better effects, better pacing, less shaky cam, more Transformer interactions.More Transformers Lore.Apparently that’s not enough for some people. The movie HAD the feel of the cartoon and if people don’t think so, then they should go see the cartoons again.
@ Fury: Unlike the first Transformers film the sequel’s “plot” made zero sense. True it surpasses the first from a technical stand point but it fails in every other aspect.
Bay took a paper thin story and covered it by amping up the sound, explosions and special effects and despite all of that the film was still awful and hard to watch.
stands to reason that a sequel would be nothing more than what made the first one so popular. We are not all of a sudden going to get a deep film about the inner turmoil of a robot trying to deal with being on an alien planet and get an introspective view of his character. …it is just not that kind of movie. The plot is what it is, there has really never been a deep Transformers movie , even the animated one which is loved by so many involved nothing more than a hungry Unicron eating planets because he felt like it.
Paramount is just not gonna spend a few million dollars so robots can sit around talking about how beautiful Cybertron is. Now im filibustering… the point is, the movies goal was just to entertain, if people were not entertain then that is always a sad thing, I personally had a blast and I mostly had a blast because Bay fixed what was wrong with the first film.
Wether it was funny or not or even hard to look at is completely subjective.
I still haven’t seen this movie but I do understand the thought behind unnecessary scenes, while yes the entire movie isn’t necessary but the movie gets made and feels long. Sometimes when a movie ‘feels’ long then a few removed scenes might make it more enjoyable.
And no I don’t go in to all movies expecting masterpieces, but just because something isn’t meant to be deep doesn’t mean its going to be good either because then that opens up an excuse for a ton of other movies.
Wolverine Origins was shit and made no sense but its ok because its just a summer comicbook movie.
Catwoman was one of the worst movies I’ve ever seen, but its ok because it’s just a movie about a woman dressed as a cat and I should be entertained by just that.
This movie, much like the first, is either love it or hate it there’s really not many people in between.
Totally agree ThatGirl, I completely agree and pretty much live by not allowing myself to excuse a movie simply because it wasn’t meant to be anything deeper. I’m just surprised that so many have hated Transformers 2 when it’s almost the same thing as Transformers 1 which got a better rating. Also, you mention Wolverine Origins which is the worst movie of the year in my opinion and it got a better tomato rating than TF2. How are these critics measuring what is bad?
Wolverine had real problems that stemmed from not only a piss poor production but a greedy company that didn’t care what it did to the fans beloved characters knowing full well they would pay anyway.TG’s right, love it or hate it nobody is gonna convert the other. It’s all just a discussion.

I saw it and want my money back. Saying that it sucked would be nice, it beyond sucked! It took sucking to new heights of suckiness.
