Current Mood:Cool emoticon Cool

Over the past few weeks there were tons of things that I wanted to write about but haven’t had the time to, so I figured that instead of writing a long separate post for each I would make on long post and cover a few things.

I want to start off with some site changes. I added a ‘Now Watching’ and ‘Now Playing’ section on the sidebar so you can see whatever I’m up to. If you ever want to know what I think about any of the things I watch or play you can just send me an email just look for where it says contact underneath the banner. Ok now on to the good stuff I’ll start off with some anime!

I’ve recently watched the first 3 OVA’s of the new Hellsing Ultimate which is sort of a remake of the series. When the anime series came out it caught up to the manga that it was based off of and instead of putting in fillers or halting production they decided to write their own ending. Now the anime series was great but some fans wished that it followed the manga to the end, that is where Hellsing Ultimate comes in. Hellsing tells the story over, this time following the manga from start to finish and in a slightly faster in a more straight to the point sort of way then the original anime.

So far only 3 of the 4 OVA’s are out on DVD and the 4th does not have a release date yet. The second one of the three is by far my favorite, the younger Valentine brother is awesome he actually refers to some video game geek knowledge in one of the scenes.

This anime is totally worth watching and I highly recommend it.

I’ve also had a chance to check out the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya series and I actually like it so much that I no longer have to look it up to see how its spelled.

This series is really hard to describe mostly because I fear that if I try to I might spoil a part of the story and I don’t want to give anything away. So in short the story follows around a high school boy who is intrigued by a new girl Haruhi Suzumiya who is only interested in people who believe in or are aliens, time travelers or espers.

When the show first aired in Japan the episode were in anachronical order which is really interesting and while that may be extremely confusing to someone watching the show for the first time it actually goes with the personality of Haruhi Suzumiya. Luckily the DVD box-sets have the episodes in the right order so you can see the story play out.

Next up is games

I finished playing all the way through Naruto: Rise of the Ninja a few weeks ago, I think that I was mostly impressed with the games visuals. The game looked really great and the fighting played really great also. Actually there are a lot of great things about the game that really stand out but there are also a few flaws that really stand out.

The game can get really repetitive fighting the same bandits over and over again can get boring, I mean just how many times is the same guy going to attack me? They couldn’t create different looking bandits besides the different looking ones they have for each class?

Between the missions that are directly based off of the manga there are a lot of missions where people leave or have lost something and need you to go get it back for them. Some of these missions sound a bit silly like a farmer who left his bag of potatoes in the Forest of Death. What the hell was he doing in a place called the Forest of Death anyway?

A few things that I wish they would have done in this game is let you play out some of the fights that weren’t Naruto’s. They have the characters and their moves in there I think that it would made the game a little longer if you got to fight as other characters during the exams. I would have loved to play as Sasuke, Rock Lee, or Sakura during the story part of the game and not just the side vs. part. I also wish that they would have gotten the Japanese voice overs in the game faster, I was done with the game by the time they came out.

They did an excellent job with the jutsu’s and incorporating them into the game using the analog sticks on the controller to act as the hands so that the player can have some control over the hand movements.

The game is definitely worth checking out if you’re a fan of the anime, I had a lot of fun with it and I really hope that they make a sequel. So at least give this game a rent its pretty short and its a fun game.

While I still have lots of stuff to write about I’ll save it for later
